Happy 30th birthday Willowbank Raceway!
In 2015 Willowbank Raceway is celebrating its 30th anniversary, with September 28 and 29 marking three decades since the very first race meeting held at what is today Queensland’s premier drag racing facility.
Over the past month we have been busy celebrating with our racers, volunteers, staff and fans – with many choosing to share their memories with us using #WBMemories.
We have been absolutely delighted to catch a glimpse of Willowbank Raceway’s journey through your eyes, with plenty of photos, videos and stories flooding in.

"As most young fellows do, I got myself a part time job at the Yamanto service station. I used to pump fuel, and the owner also had a small allotment with fencing supplies and bits and pieces.These two blokes used to come in three out of four weekends early in the day, on a Saturday I think it was. Rarely got fuel, but always purchased a couple bags of cement powder. One day it got the better of me and as I served one of the blokes I asked him, 'Hey what do you guys do with all this cement powder you keep buying?' and he said 'We are building a drag strip!"- Andrew Powell
